The craft of creating with moulds has become very popular in this DIY era. Moulds are available everywhere. Etsy, Amazon, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, your Local Prima and IOD retailers and the list goes on.
Much of the recent popularity in the last couple of years may be attributed to two factors: social media and the ease of use.
The first factor being social media is exploding with talent and creativity which is shared billions of times a day. We cannot get enough of it.
Secondly, the art of creating with moulds has become very user friendly. Buy a mould, squish in some goop, pop it out and glue it on. It cannot get much simpler than that. However, there are a few tips to make this process even easier which we will cover in this course.
Before jumping right in to creating basic moulds, let’s talk a bit more about moulds in the next lesson ….you know by now there is always a little academia. 🙂
Personally, I prefer the very flexible moulds as they are much easier to work with. With respect to this course, I will be using the Iron Orchid Design moulds as I have been very happy with them. I also retail them in my shop space and the feedback has been amazing.
You can also make your own mould forms from appliques and just about any other object. We will cover this in a future course. For now we will use premade mould forms.
